As a Full Spectrum Doula, Birthing Rights Advocacy & Trauma Prevention Specialist, Whole-Child/Regulated Parenting Coach, and Mother of three, serving families of Santa Cruz County, it is my firm belief that a person has the innate ability to bring their baby into the world and rock their own transformation into Motherhood/Parenthood, provided they are confident, informed, and encouraged.
My role in a family's journey to parenthood is to help instill and bolster that confidence, provide the information, and fully support the decisions made through the efforts of inclusive, non-biased, trauma-informed care. No matter how a family comes together - be it through adoption, surrogacy, long-planned or unexpected pregnancy, my goal is to support your experience in a judgement-free, open hearted way.
THIS is how we become empowered - THIS is how families are born.
Professionally trained by CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association), I am honored to be serving families birthing at home, hospital, or birthing center, those who choose physician care, midwifery models, unassisted free births, or a combination - your choices matter.
I am continually inspired to witness and serve in the Rite of Passage to Parenthood through facilitating a calm, trusting birthing environment, and providing a safe, sacred space for the emergence of new life.
This Doula supports and is proud to create a safe space for LGBTQ+ families, single parents, adoption, (in)fertility, stillbirth, miscarriage, abortion - all families, all pregnancy outcomes. We're in this together.
My pronouns are She/Her.

My VACCS sessions are tailored to your situation to help you find the path forward that works best for you.

"I 100% recommend Brie Buxton as your guide through preparation and birth!!
Her aura glows with Goddess Energy, calming wisdom and compassion. She genuinely demonstrated “mothering the mother” and extended that maternal lighthouse to everyone in the birth party. Extremely thoughtful with her insights into pregnancy and realistic postpartum expectations. Brie’s extensive knowledge base was an invaluable resource, offering research and reassurance. She gave wings to my birth plan while taking precautions to help me accept likely deviations.
If you are ambivalent about needing a Doula, Brie’s services are priceless; she is fulfilling a higher purpose."
"What immense gratitude I have for Brie. After meeting with several doulas, we invited Brie to join our journey for the birth of our second child, Mara. With my first birth, trauma resulted from 30 hours of labor, nearly 20 hours of transitional and active labor, unexpectedly transferring to a hospital, a failed epidural, and 6 hours of pushing. So it was important for us to find a doula who would help me process and overcome that traumatic history, and Brie did just that.
Brie empowered me to enter this next birth with confidence and strength, and is a big reason for us experiencing the healing birth of our daughter, born after only 3 hours of active labor. Even though she was our second child, both my partner and I felt that we learned so much from Brie. We were beyond grateful for her groundedness when we felt unstable, wisdom when we felt confused, and grace when we felt vulnerable. She partnered with my care team to ensure that we had the support and resources necessary to thrive in welcoming another life into this world.
I credit so much of our healing birth experience to the work Brie did with us, and the support she offered before, during, and after Mara's birth. In providing everything from emotional and physical support to helping create a safe space during the birth, we couldn't have had this beautiful birth experience without her. I am forever grateful. Thank you Brie!"
“When I was getting close to my due date with my daughter I was feeling desperately stressed, anxious and isolated. Brie became an essential support from all the way across the country. Following her guidance during the days of pre- and early labor I was able to transform and find my calm, relaxed, open self that was ready to give birth. Brie understood on multiple levels what my mind and body were going through and accomplishing. From labor positions to massage to aromatherapy to birth affirmations, Brie was incredibly knowledgeable and I felt supported by her throughout every stage of my birth experience.”
“My daughter was born in October 2019. Brie was my doula for that long incredibly amazing birth. She is such a gentle, sweet, caring person and soul. As first time parents my husband and I couldn't have done it without her. She had a way with her words, keeping me calm, breathing exercises to help me stay at ease. From the moment she got to our house she was there for both of us 150%. My contractions were intense to say the least and Brie knew just what to do to help me conquer the pain. From walking up and down my stairs, sitting in a position that would open my hips to laying in our bed with candles around taking turns with my husband holding my hand. I trusted her and my husband every step of the way. When the time came to get to the hospital it was on. She helped my husband tremendously throughout the whole process. What to say, how to help etc. I could barely speak so she helped him advocate for me when questions were asked by the doctors. At 8:44am after 14 hours of labor and 2 hours of pushing our baby girl was born. Brie we thank you so much for the amazing support you gave both of us and the knowledge you shared before, during and after I gave birth. #1 doula for sure! Much love.“
It’s hard for me to put into words what an exceptional and gifted birth worker Brie is. What set Brie apart from the other doulas we interviewed is that patient advocacy and informed decision making are central to her practice. With a process as wild and unpredictable as birth, this is a must. Our birth was no exception. Brie helped us navigate every twist and turn (of which there were many). She made what easily could have become a traumatic experience one that felt empowered, informed, and truly magical. During labor, Brie was available to assist us with whatever we needed. She provided information and support regarding the interventions being offered, she was essential in managing my pain, and seamlessly supported my husband so that he could remain present and emotionally available throughout. Brie was also an incredible resource throughout pregnancy. Her knowledge and expertise made us feel prepared for labor and birth. The online modules, lending library, and prenatal sessions allowed us to inform our opinions and preferences and create a birth plan that effectively communicated our wants and needs to all of our care team. Pregnancy is such an exciting time, but after years of trying to conceive, it was accompanied by a lot of grief and anxiety. I am so grateful to Brie for the emotional support she provided to me during this time. She always met me with respect and compassion; honoring my past experiences while helping me find ways to connect with my babe. We are forever grateful to Brie and strongly recommend her to anyone who is considering hiring a doula. Having a doula was central to what made our hospital birth the positive experience that it was. Thank you, Brie, from the bottom of our hearts!
“Working with Brie has been a life-changing experience, for the better. For as long as my wife and I will look back on the birth of our first son, we will think fondly of Brie and all her help and guidance throughout our pregnancy and delivery. As a father with no prior experience with doulas, I didn't initially appreciate how impactful a doula could be. In the end, I am so incredibly grateful to have worked with Brie. She offered us great advice and was a joy to work with. She prepared us mentally for some of the challenges, and was always available for a quick question or check-in. We shared many laughs along the way, and in the end, even a few tears. Our delivery wasn't without complications, and Brie was grounding for us in a way that the medical staff (for all their strengths) isn't intended to be, and that I (for all my intentions) wasn't equipped to be. How lucky we were to have had Brie in our corner. I can't say enough on her behalf. If you aren't sure about working with a doula, I have to say, it was the best investment we made during the entire pregnancy. If you've decided upon a doula, but haven't determined whom specifically, I have a hard time imagining anyone better than Brie. We consider her a friend for life.
"10 out of 10 would recommend! Brie was instrumental in empowering my partner and I through the birthing process. She was the ultimate support from pregnancy to postpartum.
She came to our home to help us put together our preferred birth plan, practice labor positions so I could see what would be the most comfortable, and was even able to help us through two "escape attempts" our LO had prior to his actual birth.
When the time came for us to be admitted for real, she was 100% available to us, and helped to communicate my needs to my partner so that he could support me through the labor when I no longer had words. She also acted as photographer and historian for our birth story, so I have a written and photographic record of the most important day of our lives to date.
Thank you, Brie, for everything you've done for our family!"
“If you want to feel supported, honored, special, and truly heard Brie is your girl! I can’t recommend her doula services enough, even though we didn’t actually have her present during our daughter’s birth. This was our preference, as we felt drawn to having just the two of us in the room when meeting our second daughter, but we also felt we needed some extra support around the birth. Brie was there for me any time I had questions, concerns, or just wanted to talk. She came over before the birth to teach my husband some helpful labor support tips and massage techniques which came in handy during the real thing. I talked with her via phone and text the entire day while in early labor, and her knowledge and calm demeanor really helped me get through that day. She gave be tangible tasks that I could manage, specifically curb walking—I’m still convinced that’s how my babe came out so smoothly. She was the first person I texted the next morning about how the birth went, and I felt like she was really feeling the same excitement as I was. She truly loves birth and it shows in the way she makes mamas feel throughout this lifechanging time.“
"Brie is such a lovely woman, and I couldn’t have asked for more in a doula. She provided me with education, prenatal and postpartum emotional support, and helped me get through my induced, unmedicated birth with my son. I was able to have the birth experience that I was hoping for, and I don’t think I could’ve done it without Brie’s support. My husband also really appreciated her help and support! She gives a mean foot rub as well- one of my fond memories of early labor! I felt so special and taken care of!"
"Brie is the #1 person you want at your birth! She's a hard core spit fire woman who will advocate for you to have the birth YOU want, and encourage others to support you in all healthy aspects so you may birth YOUR WAY. She will rise for you when you can't, and working together with your birth team from day 1, you will feel empowered, supported, and loved. She was a wealth of knowledge throughout my pregnancy, always there to answer questions and deliver information from all sides so I could make informed decisions. I felt very educated and I loved that I could talk to her about anything, at any time. She taught me to go my intuition, to believe in my decisions, and trust in my body. Besides being a strong advocate for your birth, Brie embolizes The Goddess, a calming mothering energy that showers you will "you can do this!" support. I felt so protected being within her space... she took care of me, and I took care of my baby. Birth is a spiritual process, and anymore society see's it as a "medical" one. We need to get back to our bodies and roots, celebrate the ability to birth, and empower ourselves and our babies. Brie was the glue to putting my family together and giving me MY birth. Do yourself a favor and hire this amazing courageous STRONG woman! She made my year --- and my family."
“Brie has been tremendously supportive to me during my miscarriage. She offered a variety of home remedies and easy to apply solutions to help me recover both emotionally and physically. It's already been two weeks since my loss, and I can report that I feel much healthier and more fertile than ever before. Using Brie's recommendations, I have a new found peaceful approach to trying to conceive. I went from scouring the internet for a quick fix to camly applying her recommendations to prepare my body for conception. Wherever you are in your journey I highly recommend Brie as your go-to for all your female health needs.”
